Base
The Beta-1 Command base is used as a back-up facility to alpha-base and operations center. Located in the outer rim of the alpha-system, it is the last life-line between pur Solar System and alpha. Scientific data, logs, station and ships telemetry, transcripts from transmissions are constantly backed on Beta-1. In case of a major catastrophe, the Beta-1 Shuttle allows for a jump home to return the data.
Crews stay for 4 weeks on Beta-1 before they are exchanged with the next team from alpha-base.
But even if humanity would have to leave alpha, the flag will stay behind ….
