LUGA-BRICKS 2025

From 25. April to 4. Mai 2025 LUGA-BRICKS took place as part of the LUGA in Lucerne. LUGA-BRICKS was in many aspects one of the largest LEGO Exhibitions in Switzerland. In terms of floor space (600m2) it was only surpassed by Bricktopia (3000m2), in terms of visitors (>80’000) and duration (10 days) it was by far the largest so far. I attended and supported it for 4 days, each time on the weekend. Certainly a big appreciation goes to the SwissLug team that was there for the whole 10 days, running the show, managing all the small and large questions that came up.

As we were part of LUGA, we “only” had to manage our own exhibition and the shop, all other aspects were covered by LUGA. Thus in some ways it was easier compared to other exhibition but due to the duration and number of visitors it was also much harder. You need a lot of people to be staffed for 10 days and this proved to be the hardest challenge in all of this.

As an exhibition, LUGA-BRICKS was really great, for me personally it was one of the best ones I have seen, simply in the size and quality of each exhibit.

I don’t want select any highlights or anything, for me the quality of all exhibits was outstanding, see for yourself:

Myself I participated for the first time with a joint MOC, a Classic Space landscape build together with Daniel Augsburger, a good colleague from SwissLug. It was really a cool cooperation and he is a great builder, I love his work: well designed, well thought out and extremely well executed. Working with him on a joint MOC really drove me to become better, to come up with better ideas and excel on execution:

Our join diorama is the ClassicSpace station LuGA-25c. LuGA-25c is the Exploration Company’s base of operations in the Trappist-1 star system. LuGA-25c is located on the 3rd moon of Trappist-1f, from where the various research missions to the planets, moons and asteroids of the Trappist system are carried out.

A detailed explanation of LuGA-25c, the layout etc will follow in a dedicated post. But here is a full overview of LuGA-25c:

The idea was to combine ClassicSpace sets with a planetary landscape. Initially it was planned to have 50% landscape and 50% base, meaning road plates, landing pad plates and some of the bases. But when I wanted start building my section I noticed that I neither had the capacity, especially in comparison with Daniel’s skills nor had I the necessary pieces to build such an elaborated landscape. So I had to initiate a change of plan and cover more areas with road, crater, landing pads and bases, with the plan “to fill” the space between the developed part of rocks and landscapes. In the end the only wild landscape was Daniels part, the base was my contribution.

Daniel’s part can been seen on the right most image in the front corner, the wild landscape with the frozen lake is quite distinct from the other section. His part required him to build a complete landscape over a larger area (104×52 stud) with very small pieces. In addition he covered the transition to the base part on the side as well, so we have a good looking transition from the wild into the base. He also build the integration of the Polaris Station into the landscape.

We were extremely pleased with the end result when we saw it the first time after we put it together at the exhibition. LUGA-BRICKS was the right place to show it and I’m very happy that I have done this with Daniel. He was the perfect partner for this. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best true ClassicSpace diorama I have seen. True means it only shows actual ClassicSpace sets and not “inspired by” or “build in the same style” MOCs. And the Classic Space sets come alive in a true landscape. For me, a long plan was finally put into reality and it looked awesome. Daniel and I liked to so much that we spontanoulsy agreed to show LuGA-25c again at Brixpo in Uster. And Michi said immediately yes, so if you missed us at LUGA 2025, join us at Brixpo in Uster

Now enough words, here are a few impressions of LuGA-25c (click on the image to open the Gallery)
