Geology / Planetology
- The Laboratory is a research facility capable of performing accurate analyses of promising deposits using high performance ground radar
- The ground radar carries out long-term measurements that allow to determine details in a radius of about 1km and to a depth of 1km, with a resolution of a few cm
- As the measurements are time-consuming, the measurements are performed by the fixed laboratory
- The ObersationLab is used when previous measurements with MineralExplorer or similar units provide inaccurate or contradictory data
- Even so, it is used to accurately capture deposits, plan mining and provide the right facilities
- Since the ObservationLab is at one location for a long time, two weather radars were installed to carry out long-term weather observations at the mining areas. This also allows an optimized planning of a possible mine
- The laboratory is transported with the Eagle to its location and picked up for return
