AVATAR – Welcome to Pandora

Here I would like to present the Avatar models in more detail and what I had in mind when building them. The Avatar dioramas were my first builds that had nothing directly to do with ClassicSpace. Although Avatar is also set in the future and is science fiction, it doesn’t really have anything in common with ClassicSpace.

I got the idea for the Avatar theme from the second Avatar movie, Way of the Water, and the idea of doing something with the LEGO Avatar sets. So I bought all the LEGO Avatar sets and put them together. And little by little I came up with the idea of building a diorama for each set, showing the sets in various small scenes. In the end, I ended up with 4 dioramas, which I would like to present to you here:

This diorama contains the set “Neytiri & Thanator vs. AMP Suit Quaritch” and shows Neytiri attacking the MPA. The fight took place in the jungle of Pandora and so I have equipped the scene with lots of greenery and plants. The good thing about Pandora is that you can use anything for the plants

This scene is based on the set 75573 Floating Mountains: Site 26 & RDA Samson and shows the RDA approaching Site 26. As in the movie, Site 26 is located on a meadow, in the background you can see some mountains. The mountains are realized with blurps and lurps. Jack is also there, but he is in the container in the tank (his avatar is outside the door).

I combined two kits for this diorama: Set 75574 Toruk Makto & Tree of Souls and Set 75572 Jake & Neytiri’s First Banshee Flight. Each set contributed both Banshees, the figures and elements of the environment. The centerpiece is of course the Tree of Souls, around which both the vegetation and the typical flying mountains of Pandora spread out. The mountains were made to “fly” using transparent elements.

Here all the Avatar – Way of the Water kits are combined into one large diorama. In the foreground is the large Tulkun, in the background you can see the Metkayina camp. I tried to achieve the “underwater effect” with the blue plates, which worked more or less well depending on the viewer.

The kits used were 75575
Ilu Discovery, 75576 Skimwing Adventure, 75577 Mako Submarine, 75578 Metkayina Reef Home and 75579 Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit.
